This archive presents a selection of creative workshops developed by Pocoapoco in collaboration with the Pimpollo Community Center in Colonia Vicente Guerrero. Since 2023, these activities have fostered collective learning and the exploration of themes such as ecology, human rights, and self-care through art.

This workshop introduces children to the basics of aerial dance using fabric. Through playful exercises—such as wrapping, suspending, climbing, spinning, and sliding—they develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence. In this playful and creative workshop, children explore the magical process of cyanotype, an early photographic technique that uses sunlight to reveal images. Through experimentation with shapes, shadows, and textures, they create unique botanical compositions on cotton paper using collected leaves, flowers, and branches.

This workshop introduces children to Kamishibai, a traditional Japanese storytelling technique that combines illustration and performance. Participants create their own miniature theater and illustrated story cards, imagining and drawing their ideal world while sharing personal narratives.
EL AUTOCUIDADO Y LA ACCIÓN COLECTIVA

Developed in collaboration with Hacer Común and the 4H educational model (Head, Heart, Hands, Health), this workshop invites children to explore art, science, and sustainability as tools for personal expression and social participation. Inspired by UNICEF principles and the 4H approach, participants learn about their rights, care for their environment, and express ideas through creative projects that blend art, design, and scientific experimentation.

Printing Stories invites children to discover the world of printmaking using recycled materials such as Tetra Pak containers. Over two sessions, participants explore two techniques: choreography, which consists of creating textures and raised shapes that are later inked, and drypoint, which allows them to draw directly on the surface. The workshop encourages experimentation, creativity, and environmental awareness through artistic practice.
MURAL DE FUTUROS POSIBLES

This workshop offers a laboratory for exploring the dyeing qualities of local plants to create botanical inks and watercolors. Through experimentation with various species and color modifiers, participants will discover the chromatic possibilities of nature, understanding creative processes as spaces for play and discovery. The workshop concludes with the creation of an illustrated fanzine, painted with the produced inks, where each participant tells a story inspired by the plants that grow in their environment.

“Minúsculas y mayúsculas“ is a workshop that encourages the active participation of children in building ideas to imagine a fairer and more sustainable future. Through dialogue, collective reflection, and creative activities, it fosters the expression of their voices as agents of change. The workshop concludes with the formation of a children’s committee and an open assembly on the theme “Ecology and Well-being / Imagining a Collective Future,” where children share their proposals and visions for their community.

Wild Imagination is a workshop where children create fantastic characters inspired by endangered wild animals from Oaxaca’s Central Valleys and surrounding regions. The project aims to raise awareness about the existence, preservation, and recovery of displaced fauna, rekindling a sense of wonder toward species that often go unnoticed. Through playful use of materials and drawing, participants expand their imagination by transforming these beings into fantastic creatures. The collective process includes sharing myths and legends, which serve as inspiration for building stories and developing a main character. The final outcome is a sculptural figure made from sheep’s wool (felting), fabric, wire, and found natural materials such as branches, stones, plants, or insects.
