CONVERSATIONS ON PRINTMAKING

A week-long workshop exploring and experimenting with print through the context of the city.

This workshop is hosted in collaboration with Marco Velasco Martínez (Espacio Pino Suárez), whose work demonstrates the the broad potential of drawing and printmaking techniques, and Ana Hernández & José Ángel Santiago (Taller Río Blanco) who utilize screen printing as a tool to share and preserve Zapotec language and identity in their community.

This program offers a collective experience to support the development of personal creative work through workshop visits, hands-on studio practices with various techniques, and discussions exploring the local socio-political role of print.  With reference to Oaxaca’s comprehensive, historical, and often quite fluid relationship to printmaking, this workshop allows participants to reexamine their individual practice as a resource to connect and communicate ideas individually and collectively.

The program is open (and encouraged!) to artists working in all disciplines!

Your participation in this workshop helps fund our Local Residents Grant.

Scholarships are available for this program.
